Over 5.1 million Americans are in prison, on parole or on probation. America spends $31 billion annually on inmates. Ninety-eight percent of all inmates will eventually be paroled. Winning inmates to Christ and equipping them with tools to stay accountable to God prepares them for the outside.
Church Growth International Prison Ministries reaches out to inmates through churches, prison ministry volunteers, prison chaplains, existing prison ministries, a correspondence course leading to a diploma, and other individuals.
Charles Brock, founder of Church Growth International, has written 7 basic discipleship books that are used in numerous prisons across America. These books teach the concepts of sin, salvation, and discipleship.
Some churches, prison chaplains, volunteers, prison ministries and other individuals prefer to use selected books, one at a time, with inmates. Others prefer to use our Institute of Biblical Studies.
Our low book prices are noted on the order form on this web site. Our Bible studies are also being used for jail ministry. In jail ministry, we use, mainly, Good News for You and I Have Been Born Again, What Next? If the inmate has a long stay in a county jail, we recommend other Bible studies.
Most crime is committed by ex-offenders. One of our goals is to reduce the recidivism (return to prison) rate. Christian ex-offenders who have been individually discipled in prison have a recidivism rate of 5 to 10 percent. Non-Christians have a recidivism rate of 70 to 75 percent.
